02/09/2020So that we remain able to offer high quality school sessions and programmes, we have been discovering exciting new ways of delivering our Schools...
Over the course of 12 days young people developed their employability skills, networked with industry professionals, and gained industry qualifications.
To enable the Trust to be able to support the greatest range of young people in Lambeth, the programme was tailored to cater for young people at different stages of their construction career journeys:
Networking with local employers – By connecting diverse local young talent to construction and built environment employers operating in Lambeth, we supported the creation of young people’s industry networks, empowering them to pursue local opportunities.
Employability skills sessions -The interactive employer-led online sessions equipped young Lambeth locals with the skills they need to stand out to employers. The careers sessions were supported by industry volunteers, who acted as relatable role models for the young people and demonstrated the diverse range of careers available in the sector.
Training for industry - recognised construction qualifications – For those that did not already have their CSCS card and Level 1 Health & Safety qualification, we delivered an innovative online training course, including gifting participants the CITB CSCS revision app and providing ongoing online revision support.
Through the Trust’s place-based approach, we are able to connect young people with tangible local opportunities, ensuring that local young people are able to take full advantage of career opportunities in their area. We will continue to work with the young people on the programme, providing 1-2-1 support as they continue to pursue rewarding careers within the construction and built environment sector.
