The Construction Cup supported Construction Youth Trust for the second year!
The Construction Cup, one of the industry’s most popular charity football tournaments celebrated another year on the 1st September 2017 in the urban and popular area of Shoreditch and was bigger than ever!
Organised by global design and technology firm IBI Group, and supported by headline sponsors Aylin White, the event hosted 40 teams who all battled hard to be crowned winners. It was Keller UK Blue who made it this year and stole the title from Willmott Dixon Interiors, celebrating their victory with some champagne spray… Our own players, Deavon and Mark, will have to keep their hopes up for next year’s tournament.
We are delighted that the Construction Youth Trust was once again IBI Group’s chosen charity of the Construction Cup and extremely grateful for the amazing £5,663.80 raised. It will enable us to continue helping more young people, particularly those facing significant barriers, to access career opportunities into the construction industry.
Becki Murphy from IBI Group said: “The Construction Cup is an annual event organised by IBI Group and this year we were really keen to highlight the labour shortage that the Construction industry currently faces, and talk about the various roles and different experiences of those in the industry. #ConstructingCareers is about inspiring people and discovering first-hand what it’s like to work in the world of construction, from those who know it best.”
IBI Regional Director Paul Hewes said: “At IBI Group, like many other firms, we have recently experienced the reduced pool of candidates pursuing a career in the construction industry. It is so important that our community actively promotes the rich and varied professions that keep our industry alive. That’s why campaigns such as #ConstructingCareers and the work of CYT are so important.”
Carol Lynch, CEO of the Construction Youth Trust said: “We are delighted that the Construction Cup has chosen to raise funds for CYT for a second year, and for us to be able to support IBI Group’s #ConstructingCareers campaign. It sits well alongside our own efforts to educate, train and support young people for a career in construction, through our courses and work placements across the UK.”
