Budding Brunels private tour of the Building Centre Exhibition and Office Refit

Last week 3 of our Budding Brunels alumni were treated to a private tour of the Drawn to the Future Exhibition and the New London Model at the Building Centre in London, where the Construction Youth Trust Head Office is based. The aim of this tour was to give to the students the opportunity to learn about challenges faced in today’s urban environment and how landscape planning can create safer and healthier environments.

In addition to the exhibition, students were also given a tour of the current refit of the Construction Youth Trust Head Office. Elina Grigoriou from Grigoriou Interiors, who is leading the project, delivered an hour workshop for our alumni focusing on the significant issues of employee wellbeing and sustainability in the workplace. The students also had the opportunity to meet the contractors from Mace who are responsible for the office refit.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the volunteers who took time out of their busy schedule in order to support the programme and add great value by sharing their experience and knowledge within construction and architecture.

Special thanks to:

  • Peter Murray (New London Model exhibition tour) - Chairman at NLA - London's Centre for the Built Environment and Chairman of Word search Communications
  • Elina Grigoriou (Employee wellbeing and sustainability workshop) - Director and architect at Grigoriou Interiors
  • Jenny Watt (Drawn to the future exhibition tour )- PR and Marketing Manager at The Building Centre
  • Matthew Law ( Office Refit Contractor) - Assistant Project Manager at Mace

“I enjoyed today’s event as I was able to learn about how London is developing and the future of architecture through the use of technology. It helps to see what world we may live in and how various factors of the past and future influence it. As I am studying architecture, this helped me develop a better understanding of what is to come. I appreciate this experience and would like to thank the volunteers who contributed their time today: Elina Grigoriou, Matthew Law, Peter Murray and Jenny Whatts.”  - Zinab Zaaiter
