Take a look at our indusTREE interview with Arboricultural Consultant Luke!

To celebrate Earth Day, we had a virtual chat with Luke all about trees!

Luke is the Managing Director of Treework Environmental Practice and played a fundamental part in the development of our Tree Project session as part of our CITB Contextualised Curriculum project. We’ve also been delighted to welcome Luke, and his colleagues, as industry volunteers on a number of occasions, sharing their vast knowledge of trees and construction with our young people.

Earth Day was on the 22nd of April and we wanted to celebrate the great outdoors and the role the environment plays in our lives. Last week, our Programme Coordinator Henry spent a sunny afternoon in his garden having a virtual chat with Luke, covering all topics tree-related!

The Tree Project session delves into the role trees play in the planning and execution of construction projects. Students step in to the roles of Arboricultural Consultants and Tree Officers as they work from a site plan to plot the usable areas to build on, factoring in surrounding trees. It’s a fantastic session that widens students’ careers horizons, inspiring them about hidden careers that few people are aware of – the amazing world of arboriculture and construction!

Take a look at the full interview to hear Luke’s words of wisdom about arboricultural careers and how young people might enter the sector, as well as his answers to some slightly sillier questions such as ‘what is your favourite tree’!
