02/09/2020So that we remain able to offer high quality school sessions and programmes, we have been discovering exciting new ways of delivering our Schools...
Over the course of the programme, participants take part in a range of activities that will strengthen their understanding of how a building project comes together, all the while developing their own ideas and design skills that will be put to the test in a final presentation!
Young people will be given the brief of designing a new multipurpose build and pitching it to a panel of industry professionals who will act as the client. Each session focuses on a different aspect of a construction project, from Architecture to Marketing, to give participants a holistic picture of the industry.
Each of the sessions will be supported by an industry volunteer who is an expert in the relevant field, who will be there to answer young peoples’ questions and bring their construction role to life. The programme even includes a virtual tour of a live site, a fantastic opportunity for participants to get an immersive experience of a construction workplace despite challenges and restrictions faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Year 11 students at the University Academy of Engineering South Bank are the first to take part in the new programme and are already well underway with their designs. We can’t wait to hear their final ideas in the New Year!
