Southwark students build employability skills and discover construction careers!

We delivered a series of 5 employer-led online sessions at City of London Academy Southwark, catering to students’ differing needs and interests.

For Year 10 and 11 students who are preparing to take the next step in their career journeys, our employability sessions are a great resource to develop the skills necessary to impress when applying for opportunities.

Our CV Workshop, Interview Skills and Cover Letters sessions are all supported by professionals in industry with experience of the recruitment process. Students are taken through the different stages of an application process and the different employability skills required, with their learning backed up by the experience and advice of our industry volunteers.

For those young people who are unsure of the career path that is right for them, our Apprenticeship Q&A and Finding and Applying for Apprenticeships sessions are great resources to shed light on the lesser known ‘earn and learn’ route into a career, learning from the experience of real-life Apprentices and Apprentice Managers.

Forming strong relationships with local schools in our hub areas allows us to engage with the same group of students for a sustained period. Students from City of London Academy Southwark are now armed with employability skills, as well as a holistic insight into the dynamic construction industry and the huge breadth of opportunity available!
