29/10/2020Through our targeted support programmes we work with young people to discover inspirational careers that raise their aspirations, help them reconnect...
Our new schools-based Year 13 mentoring programme aims to help students make positive and informed choices about their career options and support them through their transition from school into either education, employment or further training.
Through the programme participants will build on their existing skills through employer-led sessions and 1-1 mentoring support, fostering confidence in their own abilities, improving their knowledge of possible routes into careers, and inspiring them about opportunities within construction and the built environment.
In interactive employability sessions, students hone skills that will appeal to employers and help them stand out from the crowd when applying for opportunities, getting personalised constructive guidance from industry volunteers.
For this programme, existing careers sessions such as our Application and Interview Masterclasses will be joined by a new adaptation of our CV Masterclass session designed for students in Year 13. Our new CV Building session focusses on streamlining existing CVs to suit specific job descriptions, ready for the application process. Sessions like What’s the Right Route will take students through their options, widening their horizons to include lesser known pathways such as T-Levels and Apprenticeships as well as more traditional university routes.
We have already begun delivery of this exciting new programme, both online and socially distanced face to face, at selected partnership schools and are really excited to be able to support young people at this critical time make successful transitions into the world of work.
