Keiren earns Drylining Apprenticeship with Astins

Keiren started a Drylining apprenticeship with Astins this week having completed our Understanding Health & Safety Programme in June.

Keiren was first referred to the Trust by the Lewisham Youth Engagement team.  Now a Greenwich resident, Keiren was keen to begin the course as it gave him the opportunity to learn basic construction skills as well as being able to work towards his CSCS card.

Keiren demonstrated a real interest and enthusiasm whilst on the programme, impressing his tutor with his industrious team spirit and courtesy. He successfully completed the Level 1 Health and Safety Award and is working towards achieveing his CSCS card.

Upon completion of the course, Keiren stayed in regular contact with staff at Construction Youth Trust and was always keen to hear about the potential work experience opportunites to enhance his skills and CV content.

Keiren was rewarded for his persistence when he attended the Astins open day on the 12th September.  Keiren’s bubbly personality and willingness to learn impressed staff at Astins and he was offered an apprenticeship with 6 weeks initial training at the Astins Institute in Battersea.

Everyone at the Trust would like to thank Keiren for all his hard work and wish him the very best for the future.

“A fantastic outcome … well deserved … Keiren was a very earnest student”
