The Colyer-Fergusson Charitable Trust have been very generous supporters of our work in Kent and it was an honour to be recognised for our Schools Partnership work in the local area.
Through the Schools Partnership programme we offer students a range of meaningful encounters with employers that widen their career horizons, challenge stereotypes, champion STEM careers and support young people to achieve their career ambitions.
We work with each individual school to design an exciting programme of employer engagement that help them meet the Gatsby benchmarks and raise awareness of the fantastic career opportunities in the construction and built environment sector.
Every session is supported by industry volunteers lending their passion and knowledge to enhance the students’ experience. Our engagements range from curriculum led sessions like our Maths Quantity Surveying Activity, where a Quantity Surveyor leads the students in a task demonstrating how they use maths in their everyday work life, to activities such as site visits where students get to see behind the scenes of how a live construction project is managed.
In North Kent we are currently working with Northfleet School for Girls, Northfleet Technology College, St John's Catholic Comprehensive, Thamesview School and The Ebbsfleet Academy. To follow the journey of 5 young men from students to bricklayers look here!
Alongside our schools work in North Kent, the Colyer-Fergusson Charitable Trust also support our community engagement in the area. We are hugely grateful for all the continued kind support and recognition of our work by the Colyer-Fergusson Charitable Trust. With their support we are looking forward to inspiring even more young people in Kent about construction careers and supporting them to achieve their full career potential.
