Galliford Try welcome Construction Youth Trust to their Kings House site

Galliford Try’s Open Doors project invites Construction Youth Trust students to their Kings House site in Hammersmith.

Twelve students from Construction Youth Trust’s current Budding Builders construction training programme in Bermondsey visited a new-build commercial development in Hammersmith.

Construction Youth Trust recently visited a new site in Hammersmith hosted by Galliford Try. The event offered twelve young people an opportunity to receive a tour of the construction site and a chance to talk to members of their experienced project team about their role in the construction process and how they got into their chosen career field.

Project Director Paul Mathuson from Galliford Try took the students on a tour of the site, allowing them to take in everything from ground work to electrical installation. Being able to see all of these trades in action on an active site was an incredibly valuable experience to the students, many of whom had never set foot on a site before. Some of the participants who were interested to know more about particular career paths in the industry were able to speak directly to the tradespeople working on site. The staff from Galliford Try gave a fantastic insight into what the students can expect from being on site and gave details of all the other projects and developments that they currently have in the capital.

The twelve students who participated are part of the last group who will complete their qualifications at the construction training centre before its refurbishment over the summer. The students, who are currently in their first week, will be completing the Level 1 Health and Safety, and are working towards their CSCS cards.
