29/01/2020Beatriz first met Construction Youth Trust in November 2017. Before working with us she knew very little about the construction and built environment...
When he came across Construction Youth Trust in 2018, he was really interested and eager to get involved in our employer-led Budding Brunels programme to add to his experience and expand his knowledge.
During the programme he relished the opportunity to immerse himself in the sector. As part of the programme Haytham worked as part of a group to create a building design and found the opportunity to receive constructive feedback from industry professionals invaluable. We were also able to facilitate a work experience for him at Fletcher Priest Architects.
“The programme that the Construction Youth Trust offers is a great way to expand your knowledge of the sector and network with a myriad of professionals who are experts in their field.”
The chance to gain experience directly from employers cemented Haytham’s decision to pursue his chosen career in architecture. He referenced his work with the Trust in his university personal statement, and was accepted onto the Architecture course at the University of Cambridge!
For anyone wanting to pursue a construction career, Haytham’s advice is to seek out opportunities to network with professionals. At Construction Youth Trust, we know how invaluable employer encounters can be for young people to facilitate their next steps, which is why we work with our network of industry volunteers to help give young people like Haytham the best chance to widen their career horizons and achieve their goals!
