Twelve students from our current Budding Builders programme in Bermondsey visited International House located on St Katharine’s Way in the city of London
Construction Youth Trust recently visited International House hosted by Collins Construction. The event offered twelve young people from our Budding Builders an opportunity to receive a tour of the construction site and a chance to talk to members of their experienced project team about their role in the industry and how they got into their chosen career field.
The students were greeted by Project Director Duncan Redman, Senior Project Manager Gavin Noonan and Document Controller Kinga Lakatos and were given a brief overview of the site. The group enjoyed hearing about the project from where it began to the final stages it was currently in. The group also discussed different health and safety aspects about working in construction and spoke about their own ambitions within the industry.
Gavin Noonan then took the students on a tour of the site, allowing them to be able to see different trades in action on an active site which was an incredibly valuable experience to the students, many of whom had never set foot on a site before. The staff from Collins Construction gave a fantastic insight into what the students can expect from being on site.
The twelve students who participated will soon complete their Level 1 Health and Safety award, and are working towards their CSCS cards. Construction Youth Trust would like to thank Collins Construction for their hospitality and taking the time out of their busy schedules to give our students such a fantastic tour.
We are running the Budding Builders course on a regular basis and welcome young people from all London boroughs who are currently looking to gain a CSCS card, and find employment or training.
