On the 3rd of July 1987 a historic journey took place which saw 2 men become the first hot air balloon travellers to cross the Atlantic. 28 years to the day later, Bellway Homes employees are attempting a historic journey of their own, inspired by last year’s Tour de Yorkshire.

Over £2,000 raised for the Trust at the North West Regional Construction Awards

On June 4th, construction professionals from the North West and all over the country celebrated the 9th annual North West Regional Construction Awards which took place at The Palace Hotel, Manchester. The event was organised by the North West hub for Construction Excellence, the Centre for Construction Innovation and the School of Built Environment at the University of Salford and highlighted the achievements of the region’s best and most innovative projects, organisations and individuals.

22nd Christmas Concert brings festive fundraising success!

The Trust is very pleased to have recently raised over £8000 through an auction and raffle at its 22nd Annual Christmas Concert at Carpenters’ Hall in London.

Over 160 guests enjoyed an evening of festive entertainment from the Royal College of Music Junior Department and a three course meal by candlelight.

The 16 piece choir performed songs by Gabrieli, Chilcott and Thomas Hewitt Jones, and ended their performance by inviting guests to all stand and sing We Three Kings.

SUSHISAMBA Skyline Challenge London event helps young people in construction industry reach new heights

The SUSHI SAMBA Skyline Challenge London event was organised in aid of the Trust by RBS and Trust staff, raising funds to help vulnerable young people build brighter futures.

During the event the 70 participants, in teams of 4, ran up 37 floors of the Heron Tower using a panoramic staircase. The Heron Tower stands at 755ft tall, the tallest building in the City of London, and provided a real challenge even for experienced climbers! Great panoramic views and an after- event celebration with refreshments provided by SUSHISAMBA were definitely worth the climb.

During Skyline Challenge London event up to 200 people, in teams of 4, will take their turn to run up 39 floors of the Heron Tower using a panoramic staircase. The Heron Tower stands at 755ft tall, the tallest building in the City of London, and will no doubt present a real challenge even for experienced climbers! New look for our fundraising Christmas Concert

The Trust recently held its 21st Annual Christmas Concert at Carpenters’ Hall in London. Over 150 guests enjoyed an evening of entertainment from the Royal College of Music Junior Department and a three course meal by candlelight.

The format of the night was completely different to previous years with the choir from the RCM performing pieces by Jan Sandstom, Biebl, Darke and a world premiere from ex RCM student John Batchelor around the room throughout dinner, accompanied by members of the orchestra.

Trust to host CIC Scavenger Hunt for 25th Anniversary

The Trust is delighted to have been nominated as Construction Industry Council’s chosen charity for their 25th Anniversary celebrations this year.

On the 1st November 2013 CIC will celebrate 25 years as representatives’ forum for the professional bodies, research organisations and specialist business associations for professional services providers in the construction industry. CIC is celebrating its 25th year by hosting a number of events including organising our annual Scavenger Hunt.

Spooky Scavenger Hunt for CIC's 25th Anniversary

The Trust recently held a Halloween themed Scavenger Hunt for CIC’s 25th Anniversary.

Six teams from HOK, Considerate Constructors Scheme, ACE, Stride Treglown, RICS took part, and CIC also entered a team. The scavenger hunt clues took the teams around a course in the Square Mile in London, where teams had to race against the clock to answer a construction themed quiz, and gain bonus points for taking pictures of their scary Halloween props with different landmarks along the way. Frank goes the extra 100 kilometers!

Frank Bastow, CEO of building and restoration company Bastows Ltd courageously walked 100km in aid of the Trust at the weekend. He took part in the Thames Path Challenge, a gruelling test of stamina and determination along the Thames Path in London.

As a valued supporter of the Trust and keen walker Frank decided to combine his passion for challenge events with his firm belief in giving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds a chance to succeed in life.
