Our Overall Awards Winner announced

Shane Evans, a 28 year old Property Design Technician, Carmarthanshire County Council was awarded the Overall Winner award at the Duke of Gloucester Young Achievers Scheme Awards tonight.

Shane really impressed the judges at the recent judging day with his resilience and determination for achieving in his career in construction despite serious health issues.

Young professionals of the future celebrated at Awards

Some of the industry's most exceptional young people were honored at an awards evening supported by HRH The Duke of Gloucester last night.

All the shortlisted candidates joined the host, Comedian Susan Calman, over 200 senior industry figures and HRH The Duke of Gloucester at the awards evening at the Underglobe, where the winners were announced.

Now in its fifth year, the Scheme, with the support of the Trust’s Patron, HRH The Duke of Gloucester, looks for exceptional young professionals to be celebrated for their achievements.

At the Duke Of Gloucester Young Achiever’s Scheme Awards 2012, Stacey Clifford won both the Engineering Award, and the coveted Overall Winner Award. As a result, she was featured in the 2014 Building the Future - Women in Construction report published by the Smith Institute.

The Duke of Gloucester’s Young Achievers scheme 2016 is a great opportunity for exceptional young professionals in the built environment under 30 to be commended and celebrated for their achievements.

Dylan is 23 and a Shadow Contract Performance Supervisor at North Ayrshire Council although started out as an apprentice plasterer at Ayrshire Council. Unfortunately a serious car accident meant that he was unable to continue with any manual labour. It was an amazing evening at the Underglobe, London last night as we celebrated the achievements of the finalists of the annual Duke of Gloucester Young Achievers Scheme. HRH The Duke of Gloucester was joined by over 230 senior industry figures and young people for a glittering awards dinner and ceremony.

Now in its fourth year, the Scheme, looks for young people who have overcome barriers to get to where they are, and judges read applications from young people who had shown exceptional resilience and determination.
