Construction Delivery

Andrew Link - Construction Industry Council

Andrew is the Chief Operating Officer for the Construction Industry Council, the representative forum for the professional bodies, research organisations and business associations in the Built Environment.

Andrew’s background is as a Project Manager with main contract Bovis Lend Lease during which time he delivered major projects in retail, health, commercial and educations sectors. Leading up to the Beijing and London Olympics Andrew was a Director of the High Performance arm of the Olympic Sport of Taekwondo and a Sport Competition Manager for LOCOG.

Andrew also currently holds positions as the Commercial Manager for the BIM Task Group, Secretariat for the Green Construction Board, Strategy Board Member of the Considerate Constructor Scheme and oversees the use of the Design Quality Indicator.


Gareth Stapleton - Rise

Gareth is a founding Director of Rise, a construction project management business.  An architect by training, Gareth has over 18 years' experience working on large complex construction projects in the UK and overseas. 

Working as a Client Representative, and a Project Manager since its inception Gareth has overseen the steady growth of Rise working across a broad range of sectors. Before developing a career in Project Management, Gareth practised as an Architect with several leading UK firms where he worked on several prestigious commissions including The Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Stratford Station and Bristol Science Museum.

Gareth has completed an MBA (Project Management) at Henley Management College. In 2005, Gareth joined the steering group of Henley’s Construction and Property Interest Group. In 2007, Gareth was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.


Design and Architecture

Andy von Bradsky - PRP 

Andy is the Chairman of PRP, a large international multi-disciplinary practice providing Architecture and a range of complimentary design and consultancy services including Urban Design and Masterplanning, Landscape Design, Environmental Services, Project Management and Planning.

He is responsible for the vision, strategic direction and growth of the practice, and has a particular interest in developing the business internationally.

Andy is a frequent contributor to advisory groups on industry and policy issues in the UK, and speaks regularly at conferences and seminars.

 

Lynne Sullivan - Sustainable by Design

Lynne is a co-founding partner of sustainableBYdesign, born out of the design arm of Inbuilt which she joined as Design Director in 2008.  Previously she was Director of Sustainability at Broadway Malyan Architects 2000-2008 , one of the top 10 architecture practices in the UK, and Associate Director at ECD Architects 1991-2000, a practice which was unique in combining architectural services with energy and environmental consultancy.

Lynne is a member of The Edge a campaigning multidisciplinary thinktank.  She also sits on the Government's Green Construction Board, where she is Board sponsor for Knowledge and Skills, and is a member of the RIBA's Sustainable Futures Committee.

Lynne was awarded the OBE for services to Architecture in the New Years Honours List 2011.


Project Management

Assad Maqbool - Trowers & Hamlin

Assad is a Partner in Trowers & Hamlins' Projects & Construction department which he joined in 2004.

Assad advises commercial clients and local government bodies on non-contentious construction law. He negotiates and drafts building and engineering contracts and professional appointments. He has particular experience of advising on partnering and framework agreements.

Assad also specialises in advising on large-scale social housing refurbishment schemes and the construction aspects of education projects. 

He was recommended in Legal 500 in 2012.

 

Terry Spraggett - Mace

Terry Spraggett is director of Mace.  He joined Mace Plus as construction director in May 2005 and is a member of the Mace Group construction board. 

With 25 years’ experience in main contracting, Terry has worked extensively across all markets in both the private and public sector. His reputation is based on his ability to form and maintain excellent client relationships and successfully deliver quality projects on time and to budget.

He is known in the industry for his honesty, cool head under pressure and no nonsense approach to facing and dealing with issues as they arise.  Terry is also a Trustee for Construction Youth Trust.


Engineering

Albert Williamson-Taylor - AKT II

Since founding AKT II alongside Hanif Kara and Robin Adams in 1995, Albert Williamson-Taylor has been responsible for managing design and technical matters on a practice-wide basis.

His role as Design Director allows him to incorporate his passion for cutting-edge technology into the many projects that he oversees, while his breadth of experience facilitates designs which seamlessly merge an emphasis on innovation with a sustainable approach to technology and respect for heritage. 

Albert believes that sustainable engineering simply stems from a progressive attitude towards design. 

 

Denise Chevin - Journalist

Denise is a freelance journalist, formally editor of Building magazine. 

Denise is also a Trustee of Construction Youth Trust.

 


Surveying

Simon Johnson - Davis Langdon

Simon is a director in Davis Langdon's London office where he leads the London commercial and residential cost management teams.

Simon has worked with Davis Langdon since joining the Cost Research department in 1980. He managed this department between 1982-1984, following which he joined one of the teams, specialising in retail and office development for private sector clients. Simon became a Partner of this team in 1986 and he has maintained his focus on private commercial work since then, working with repeat clients such as Land Securities, Hammerson, Stanhope, Chelsfield, Westfield, BAA McArthur/Glen etc.

His projects have included the Commerzbank Tower in Frankfurt, the tallest building in Europe at the time, and Westfield Shopping Centre in London. 

 

Simon Rawlinson - EC Harris

Simon is the Head of Strategic Research & Insight at EC Harris. He is responsible for developing the firm’s strategic research and insight team globally. This includes supporting the development of EC Harris’ business through the provision of best in class cost and technical data, strategic and tactical research, analysis and insight. Simon and his team work with other parts of the business to deliver this internationally through client focused brand and sector marketing, knowledge led business development and leadership support.

Simon joined EC Harris in 2010 after 15 years at Davis Langdon where he was head of Professional Development and responsible for Davis Langdon’s market intelligence, research, best practice and information services. He is the Chair of Research at the British Council for Offices. 

Simon is a regular media commentator and construction industry speaker.
